Travelling to Tasmania - Our Tips

Travelling to Tasmania is a magical experience – the beauty of the landscape, the quaint little towns, welcoming locals and a host of attractions that could very well see you scheduling another trip before you even get home.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your Apple Isle experience:

Pack for all Seasons – the temperature can vary dramatically from one day to next, and even from morning to night. Summer days can be hot, and the nights still pretty cool. Winter days can be mild, then the nights freezing. Spring and autumn are known for being four seasons in one day, so pack to cover all bases - layers are essential! Taswegians are a pretty relaxed lot, casual attire is acceptable in any almost any circumstance. When in doubt, wear the ‘Tassie Tuxedo’ - a puffer vest or jacket!

Sensible Shoes – there are loads of walks, parks, trails, beaches and beautiful towns that are best explored on foot, so comfortable footwear is a must!

Travel Times – yes we are a small state but do not underestimate us. The phrase ‘we are here for 3 days and planning on seeing everything' is common, and let us tell you, you will be disappointed! There is way more to Tasmania than Launceston, Hobart, Strahan and St Helens so allow yourself time to take in the sights and not speed past them in the car.

Driving Conditions – our roads are windy and can take a little extra navigation for city folk. Ice can be an issue in the winter, and then there is the wildlife. Swerving to avoid wildlife in your path is what causes accidents. Go slow, be prepared to stop and take extra care at dawn and dusk – this is when you will see the most animals.

Water – remember the tourist advertisements; pristine waterways that look pure enough to cure the ill. In most cases, it could, or least be good enough to drink, but some towns have boil water alerts, so it is always best to check with the locals as to the water status quo.

If your travel to Tasmania includes work, we can assist with desk and wi-fi (even for just an hour), printing, scanning and general business assistance.
